Volunteers in Youth Ministry

Youth Ministry connects students to the presence and power of Jesus Christ through a model of relationship, connection, and love. We ask our adult leaders to make a commitment to serve for just one semester at a time. We won’t throw you in the midst of a bunch of teenagers and let you fend for yourself. We provide ongoing training and resources no matter what your role is.

Relationship

Jesus’ ministry was incarnational and relational and so ours must be as well. For students who don’t know Jesus, we want to introduce them to Jesus. For those that are already following Jesus, we want to guide them in strengthening that relationship. We seek to model healthy, supportive, Christ-centered relationships in all that we do with our students.

Connection

We desire to know both the good and the not-so-good things in our students’ lives so that we might speak the truth of the Gospel and the love of Jesus into their circumstances. We want to fully know our students so they may always be comfortable being who God called them to be.

Love

We want every student to know they are fully loved. At St. Andrew’s we desire to live out Jesus’ radical love and acceptance of every student who walks in our doors.

Ministry Teams

Hospitality Team

The Hospitality Team is our front line group who ensures every student is seen and welcomed. We provide the tools, food, and training.

Tasks

  • Greet arriving students
  • Oversee check-in
  • Register new students
  • Serve snacks and dinner

Team Members

  • 6 for Middle School (Sundays)
  • 6 for High School (Wednesdays)

  • Middle School: Sundays, 5:30 – 7 pm
  • High School: Wednesdays, 6:30 – 8 pm

Discipleship Team

Jesus closely discipled just 12 men over a long period of time and that’s the example we look to for youth ministry. Small Group Leaders are the core of our Discipleship Team and discipleship process. As a small group leader you’ll be responsible for 8-12 young people of the same age and gender. We provide the training and each week we provide the activities and questions for your group. You show up and get to know your students over the course of a semester.

Team Members

  • 3 men & 3 women for Middle School (Sundays)
  • 4 men & 4 women for High School (Wednesdays)

Commitment

  • August – December
  • Middle School: Sundays, 5:30 – 7:45 pm
  • High School: Wednesdays, 6:30 – 8:45 pm

Dinner Team

We see the picture again and again in Scripture of believers gathered around the table. There’s something different going on when we gather for a meal in the Lord’s name. If reimbursement is needed, we’re happy to reimburse you for groceries purchased to prepare the monthly meal.

Team Members

  • 4 families for Middle School (Sundays)
  • 4 families for High School (Wednesdays)

Each group of four would plan and divide the labor as they see fit each month.

Commitment

Work with other team members to provide a home cooked meal once each month

  • Middle School: Last Sunday of each month – August-May, 5:30 – 7 pm on site
  • High School: Last Wednesday of each month – August-May, 6:30 – 8 pm on site
