Thanksgiving Turkey Fry

We’re full! Thank you for your generosity. We now have all the people and birds we can handle in the space and time allotted.

• 8:00 am – 1:00 pm
• St. Andrew’s City Church offices (50 Romney St, Charleston)

Help feed more than 300 people on Thanksgiving Day. All locations of St. Andrew’s support a ministry that takes food and the Gospel into the neediest neighborhoods in the Charleston area. Our work takes place the day before Thanksgiving as we fry dozens of turkeys and pick the meat in preparation. Men, women and teenagers come together to do good work for those who otherwise might not have Thanksgiving Dinner. Come be a part of this beautiful outreach.

• Fry Turkeys — requires proper equipment, propane and oil.
  • Oil will be available on-site: 5 gals/ $50
  • Hot oil will be collected on-site at 12:00 noon
  • 20 volunteers needed –
• Pick Turkey Meat — requires pulling the meat off of the bone after it’s cooked
  • 15-20 volunteers needed –
  • Make sure you allow 3 days for the turkey to properly thaw. Frozen turkeys are extremely dangerous near boiling oil.
  • All birds must be delivered to St Andrew’s City Church at the address above by 9 am on Wednesday, November 26.
• Donate Turkeys — 12-13 pounders, FULLY THAWED
  • We cannot accept donations of turkeys unless you sign up.
• Cash donations are helpful, too! Donations help offset the cost of supplies, oil, and other equipment used during the event.
