This Fall Forum is unique for two reasons. First, the artist who will be featured in The Kairos Gallery this Fall, Dawn Waters Baker, will be our keynote speaker. Her topic will be Groans Too Deep For Words. She will also present the ArtShare about her work and process. Those who attend the Forum will get a first peek at her exhibit. Second, for the first time we will have a 1-hour workshop after lunch at 2PM, which Dawn is leading, on Emotional Typography in graphic and fine arts. This workshop will apply to any visual artist but it will also be very helpful for anyone who teaches or works with children. About The Workshop

In this mini workshop we will be exploring how simple lines can communicate emotions and help us articulate how we feel inside when things feel overwhelming or numb. For teachers, we want to help them “see” how their students bring a range of feelings with them into the classroom and how drawing can be a healthy way to let those feelings out. For artists, it can help crystallize the texture, temperature, and weight of our lines, colors, and forms when bringing emotion to our work.
