Join the Ridley Institute for a two-day immersive course on Genesis 1–11 led by respected Old Testament scholar Dr. Cathy McDowell. Together we’ll explore the Bible’s opening chapters—creation, the fall, Cain and Abel, the flood, and the tower of Babel—attending to their literary beauty, ancient context, and theological depth. Dr. Catherine McDowell is a Professor of Old Testament at Palm Beach Atlantic University. She is a dedicated teacher and researcher who loves helping people discover the deep history and meaning within the pages of the Bible. With a Ph.D. from Harvard University, Dr. McDowell brings expert knowledge to her students, but her true passion is making complex topics easy to understand for everyone. 
Dr. McDowell’s work often explores how the ancient world helps us understand the Bible today. She has spent many summers in Israel working on archaeological digs, uncovering physical pieces of history. She is the author of The Image of God in the Garden of Eden, a book that looks at the creation of humanity. She also co-authored The Rewards of Learning Greek and Hebrew, which shows readers how knowing the Bible’s original languages can make its message even more meaningful.
