When is Archbishop Steve Wood’s trial?
The trial is set for September 7-12, 2026 with an extension to September 21-26, if necessary. The decision was made by the Court for the Trial of a Bishop. You can read their decision on the ACNA’s website.
June 10, 2026 Court for the Trial of a Bishop Procedural Update
On May 7, 2026 and June 2, 2026, the Court held hearings to consider a number of pending motions from both parties. On June 10, 2026, the Court issued the following rulings:
- Respondent’s Motion for In Camera Trial was GRANTED;
- The Province’s Motion for the College of Bishops to Observe the Trial was DENIED;
- Respondent’s Motion to Dismiss was DENIED;
- Respondent’s Supplementary Motion to Dismiss was DENIED; and
- The Province’s Motion for the Court to Re-establish Fairness, etc. was GRANTED IN PART.
The Court made a specific finding that no statute of limitations exists in the Canons of the Anglican Church in North America for claims brought in the presentment of a bishop or archbishop.
With respect to the Motion for the Court to Re-establish Fairness, etc., the only relief granted was that the Court will issue a letter for the parties to provide to witnesses and anyone who comes forward to clarify the Court’s intent in seeking information in this matter. The question of disqualification of the Rev. Cn. Jeff Weber became a moot point when Canon Weber withdrew from representation of the Archbishop before the Court on May 29, 2026.

St. Andrew’s called the Rev’d Canon Randy Forrester as the Rector of St. Andrew’s on January 26, 2026 and Randy has accepted that call.
Has the Board of Inquiry rendered a judgment concerning the Presentment of Archbishop Steve Wood and whether it should proceed to an ecclesiastical trial?
Yes, the Board of Inquiry found there was probable cause to present the Archbishop for trial. You can read their statement here. As of now, a date for the trial has not been set.
How is the College of Bishops of the ACNA responding to the recent challenges facing the Province?

Does Steve remain the Bishop of the Carolinas and Archbishop of ACNA?
In accordance with the canons of the Anglican Church in North America, on November 16, 2025, the Dean of the ACNA, Bishop Julian Dobbs, inhibited Archbishop Steve Wood. The inhibition means Archbishop Wood is prohibited from the exercise of his ordained ministry in the ACNA. This action does not determine guilt or innocence, nor does it pre-judge any allegation or any future proceeding.
What does the inhibition mean for St. Andrew’s?
Because Steve Wood has already retired from being the rector of St. Andrew’s and because he took a voluntary leave of absence as Bishop and Archbishop, nothing will change at St. Andrew’s.

The Rt. Rev. David Bryan, as Bishop Suffragan, has assumed the duties and responsibilities as acting Bishop of the Diocese of the Carolinas, which includes St. Andrew’s. He is assisted by The Rt. Rev. Terrell Glenn and The Rt. Rev. Thad Barnum.
Who has taken on the responsibilities of the office of the Archbishop for the ACNA?
On November 15, 2025, Bishop Julian Dobbs was appointed the Dean of the Province and assumed all canonical responsibilities and duties of the archbishop.
